So MaKinslie has recently started being super clingy to DH and I. It's to the point that we can't even leave to the gas station and let my parents watch her because she screams from the time we leave until we come back. This started at the end of November and has progressively gotten worse. She now also fights sleep and has a fussy period at night every night. Is this a phase? Weird that it's started this later, she never did this before!

It could just be a phase.. I think every baby has periods of fussiness like that. Ares just went through one recently too.

My oldest (11 now) did this when I was taking some college classes. My mom said he cried from the second I left until the second I got home. She wound up taking him to school and walking him around, and when he got hungry she would get me out of class to feed him... he wouldn't take a bottle no matter how hungry he was!!! One teacher even let me bring him to class with me! He didn't outgrow it for a long time... I think after I weaned him at 14 months, but I don't think this will happen to you.

To solve my problem, I just didn't go out without him, lol.

Hannah wasn't one to have a fussy period at night but now she does, starting on the dot at 5 or 5:25 every single day. It sucks, but we make it work. Sometimes she won't go down unless I stand and rock her to sleep for 20+ minutes. She is also super hungry at these times so I just let her eat her fill because sometimes she doesn't eat a ton during the day.

During the day, all I can suggest is keeping track of her nap times and going out at those times. And if she falls asleep in a certain place, let her stay there and don't disturb her. Like if we are going out and she is asleep in the basinet in our room, we will let DH's mom know where she is and that she is asleep and to just check on her periodically until she wakes up. I haven't experienced this before (Hannah seems to be fine when we leave without her), but just tell them to try anything and everything they can to soothe her: bottle, paci, rocking, bouncing, walking around, talking to her, toys, checking her dipe, etc. It's not QUITE time for them to start having separation anxiety, but you know how they know smells and such. Try leaving behind a shirt or blanket with your scent on it. I try to cuddle Hannah in her favorite blanket so that when I put her down at night, I can put it on the edge of her bed so that she can smell me. I hope for you that this is just a phase! Just more of an excuse to hold her I know it's tough but you'll get through it!

All my kids have been clingy to me. My son had colic and was fussy from 8pm-12pm every night for like a month starting at 2 or 3 months.
