Is it typical to be extra hungry this early (4 1/2 wks)? I am hungry every couple hours!! I don't want to go crazy ... I'm starting this pregnancy above a weight I'd like to be at, but still down 40-45 lbs from my highest. So I really want to be careful about weight gain, but I'm STARVING! I've never had hunger like this before. Luckily it doesn't take much to make me feel full.

I'm six weeks and I feel like I don't eat as much, yet if I don't eat every 2-3 hours I get nausea. I think at that point I started feeling a little hungrier. But lately it's like I can barely finish a bowl of cereal without forcing myself but then 2 hours later I'll be sick as a dog untill I eat something.

I'm lucky that I don't have morning sickness (yet, knock on wood!!) so I'm legit hungry!! Despite struggling with my weight for years, I don't have a big appetite normally - til now!!

Hope your morning sickness gets better!

Very normal. It's one of the first big symptoms.

Crazy enough to try all over again for a second together baby! Hoping for a much less wild ride this time!

This was the symptom that made me think I was pregnant. We were in the middle of a heat wave this last week, and everyone else had no appetite, but I was famished every 2 hours!

I feel like such a little piggy, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can as I'm sure morning sickness will swing things the other way when/if it kicks in

I've been so hungry too. My gestational diabetes started already though so I have to really watch the type of food I eat

On my non-nausea day I feel like all I do is eat but on my nausea days I'm lucky if I eat 1 bowl of fruit and a smoothie the whole day long.

Totally normal. Be thankful you don't have morning sickness yet. When you do eat, try to go for foods with a low glycemic index so you stay fuller longer. Avoid starchy food, breads, candy since they'll give you a sugar buzz but leave you famished again after a half hour.

For me, being pregnant and having a baby is the best weight loss plan ever. With my morning sickness I hardly gained any weight at all. Once I gave birth I was about 20 lbs lighter. And after a year of breast feeding I'd lost another 20 lbs.

Of course, once I stopped breast feeding I gradually gained it all back. lol

That happened to me in the beginning, for many weeks. It's faded now.

Being hungry is always the very 1st symptom for me, way before I know I'm pregnant! And I'll tell you something, last pregnancy, even though I had nausea between weeks 6 and 12, it didn't stop me from eating at all! Quite the opposite, i had to eat all the time to make the nausea go away!
I gained almost 40lbs, but since i'm so thin no one noticed... And I did loose it all within the first month, without breastfeeding (of course it's hard to eat when your newborn just died...).
