Greetings to all you expecting mothers and CONGRATS!
So, here's the deal. My husband and I have been married for 6 years and this is our FIRST pregnancy. Although my husband tries his best to be supportive (bless his heart), I feel simply lost in this whole pregnancy thing. I do not yet have the loving support of friends/family because we have decided to wait until the second trimester to share the news (we are CERTAIN everyone will be ecstatic). Therefore, my first two weeks of pregnancy have been somewhat lonely and frightening.

I found this forum and thought, "Surely someone out there is in the same situation as me and we might find some support in each other." Alongside the common physical symptoms (boobs=ouch, nausea, exhaustio....zzzzz), I have also been wrestling with many emotional issues. The pregnancy was not exactly "planned," so even though I am generally excited about it, I also have some mixed feelings (especially anxiety regarding how it will stretch us financially).

I'd love to connect with some other complete "rookie" moms. Also, you veteran mama's, please feel free to offer some words of advice and wisdom for us.

Hey Rookie, I can join you! We have told a few close family members, but lately it seems like they are enjoying this way more than I am!
Hubby and I have been together for almost 11 years and he is awesome, but, also does not get some of my concerns (I have always been the worrier of the two of us).
Although really happy about the Baby, I think I was pretty naive in picturing pregnancy as this blissful time, too busy trying not to puke!

Hi, I'm Jen - also pregnant with our first. I'm in a slightly different position though as we had been ttc for 2 years and this pregnancy is a result of MA, so definately no surprises here!

I think we have our own brand of anxiety though as FTM's where every symptom (or lack of) scares the bejeesus out of us. These boards are great for support and calming any crazy worries though

Hi RookieMama! Congrats!

I am due March 16. Our first. Baby is a surprise. We were TTC but had failed for 18 months, so we gave up. Then I missed my period in July. After a night drinking over half a bottle of wine in celebration of Independence Day. Big oops!

But here we are now. I am a bit the nervous type. Every cramp makes me panic. And I have lost 12 pounds so far since conceiving. Very bad vomiting for the second month. At almost ten weeks, I think ( knock wood) that I am starting to pull out of the worst of it.

Look forward to sharing some rookie stories in the coming months!

Hey rookie! I'm on my 2nd and this pregnancy was not planned either. I have a 9 month old! I'm freaking out about having two so close together!! Being nervous and having anxiety about pregnancy and what the future holds is completely normal! Your life is about to change but not in a bad way! We're all here to offer support and advice! So welcome and congrats!!

Hi Rookie!

I'm a first time mom and my husband and I will celebrate 8 years married right after my due date of 3/23.

We were trying but not really expecting it to work. I too am seeking a community to talk and share so I don't drive everyone else I talk to crazy wanting to talk about pregnancy and babies all the time.

I'm glad we all found each other here!

I'm a rookie too. We definately were not trying, since we did not want kids. Always said if it was meant to be, it would. Well, here I am. I have many anxieties too. Finances, future plans, housing, jobs. I know my husband will be a good dad, but he never wanted kids, so he is pretty apathetic to my pregnancy, more of "Well, it happened. Now we have to deal with it and that is what we will do." None of the excitement. I am hoping that will come with time. We told our immediate families this weekend. If possible, that made it scarier. I think just more real. Wow, I am really having a baby. Dear God, what have I gotten myself into?

Also a rookie mom to be. I was also ttcma for almost 2 years. I hope the ones who accidentally got pregnant get excited. It makes me so sad to see babies born to parents who didn't want them and aren't excited to have them. So many people would give anything to have a baby and children deserve families who can't wait to share their lives with them
Maybe I'm just extra sensitive though :/

I'm not a rookie but my first pregnancy was unplanned. I had been married for 5 years and was in my final year of university when I found out. I was pretty shocked and although excited I didn't really have anyone to talk to because none of my friends were even married let alone gearing up to have kids. Apprehension and uncertainty is totally normal. Bringing a baby into your life is the hugest life change there is, but if it was really so bad, there would be a lot less people having babies, right?

Im also a rookie! Ive told my mom and boss, and dh has told his mom, but besides that, no one else knows. I wanted to wait until AT LEAST the second trimester to let everyone else know, but I might keep it a secret until Im too big to keep it a secret any longer! (which is more likley)
I completly understand how nervous you are! Its going to be a big change, but I believe it will be for the better! Good luck and Congrats
Welcome baby Lily!! 3/9/14 <3

I am a rookie with pregnancy. I have an 8 y.o. SS, and we have custody. This will be our first together, my first pregnancy. We conceived on our honeymoon! Although we'd been trying for a few months before. I still feel like it happened pretty fast. I think I'm still in shock/disbelief! And here I am in my 2nd trimester already! Yikes!

I haven't had a whole lot of issues up until this past weekend. My OB thinks there's something going on with my GB or liver. He's hoping they're just adjusting and everything will work itself out. Otherwise, I could just have this pain until after pregnancy in which it could resolve itself or mean a work up of them. We'll see. Hopefully, my body will adjust.
