A little back ground to start off with. I was laid off three years ago due to budget cuts all civilian contractors for the Oregon Military department were let go due to budget cuts at which time we lost our private insurance. My husband is self employed so private insurance for our family and because of the line of work he does it's too expensive for us.

So two weeks ago I applied for State insurance. Well with the new OBMAMACARE they are back logged. My OB won't even make an appointment for me until I have insurance. I called twice last week and was told I should have it by today. So I called this morning after talking to a rep and then put on hold 57mins later was hung up on. I called back again got another rep who put me on hold to go talk to a lead 25mins hung up on! Called a 3rd time! Just asked to speak to a lead and am finally getting pushed through their system and will hopefully have insurance by the end of the day! I'll be 8weeks on Thursday and have yet to see my OB because of these people playing games! Thankfully there is a clinic here that will see you until your able to see your normal OB so I went there last week and they are having me back in the morning. For crying out loud I even let the reps know I'm high risk and can't go in until they get their S**T squared! I'm just sooo frustrated that I can't even see my doctor because of these new rules!

Sorry I just needed to get this off my chest before I exploded!

Big hugs!!! I'm so sorry! What a pain. Hopefully it gets pushed through today and you can set up an appointment tomorrow.

I'm having insurance struggles right now, too. The birth center I love is out of network, so it's quite a bit more expensive than using an in-network hospital. I just don't know what to do.

Unfortunately we're probably all going to hear more and more about insurance woes with the government having its hands all over medical care now.

We had an individual plan years ago when I was pregnant with #2 and it wasn't too bad monthly. We had to pay a pretty hefty copay for the delivery and no one would see us without it being paid up front but it was better than nothing. I think a plan like that is out of reach for maternity coverage now, though! I hope everything gets straightened out!

Thanks Ladies. It is a pain. I miss the insurance we had through my old job it was amazing. The only problem we have is no one would give us insurance that we could afford. Just for my husband was $1000 a month because they all say he has a high risk job. I agree we will hear a lot now with the government having their hands on medical.

Oh no! What a bummer. I am also bummed about insurance changes. With my son it cost $250 to have a c-section...now it will be upwards of $2k! UGH!

Mommy to two beautiful boys...born 10/11/11 and 6/5/14. And another due 4/27/16!

My first estimate from the ob for prenatal and ultrasound is more than each of my two previous deliveries.( ob, tests, hospital, etc) I hate our new insurance. We are stuck because I only work part time so we have to use what is available to my husband.

Mine is over $1k and that is just for my regular visits. My specialists test will be additional, and then the hospital stay. I've looked into a second insurance and NOTHinG close to affordable covers pregnancy

Ugh that sucks. I hope it gets straightened out soon! My insurance isn't that great, but it covered pregnancy fairly well last time. I never even had to pay anything for delivery....probably because I had so much prenatal care that I reached the max LOL.

Annalise is hoping to be a big sister on June 28, 2014. Forever missing her big brother, Matthew, stillborn on July 1, 2010.

Such a pain! Everything moving forward with the ACA is a major reason we decided to reenlist for another 4 years in the Marine Corps.
