So I went down to our lower level of our home (technically our basement I suppose) to go through some baby stuff this weekend. I grabbed the bucket seat that I used with DD, and found that the straps are all mildewy. I am assuming the seat is too, but it's a darker colour so I can't really tell.

My plan of action is to:
- Remove the cover, soak in vinegar & wash in the washing machine.
-I can't take the straps out, so I am going to saturate them in vinegar and maybe scrub them up with some oxyclean.

Does this sound like a decent idea? I don't want the seat to be a health risk to my LO. I'm just so irritated. Our basement is dry, but I guess that little bit of humidity was enough to grow some mildew
Thank-you Bokkechick for the beautiful siggy!

This happened to me too. I'm embarrassed to admit that I was unsure whether it could be cleaned or not and threw it away...should've researched it a bit more!

It's worth a try! If that doesn't work I don't know what would. I think vinegar and/or oxyclean should do the trick!.

It depends on how bad the mildew is. You'll be able to make it clean and safe just watch that the straps haven't become brittle. Also sometimes even though physically clean they may retain the stain, which is actually fine but just irritates me to no end and I end up tossing the stuff anyhow.
