My mom made me a bunch of pocket cloth diapers using micro fleece for inside lining which I am pretty sure the pee will absorb through into the soaker pads.

She told me the next batch she will be using flannel for the lining...will pee absorb through flannel or will it just run off? I'm worried bc I thought I read somewhere that flannel will repel liquid.

Does anyone have insight on this? I have no time to research right now...I'm having these babies in less that 48 hours and I have a million things to do

Cotton flannel should not repel after it is prepped. Best to maybe do a test strip first?

Flannel will not repel but will also not wick moisture away. Also, many flannels sold in stores are pretty cheapo and wear out fast/unravel. I'd probably stick with the micro fleece but the flannel will work after prepping. Very nice of your mom! Congrats on your babies!

I'm coming in late, but I'd avoid flannel. I bought expensive high quality diaper flannel for my first set of diapers. They didn't last through the yr! All that work and expense to have shredded! I'd recommend alova suede cloth for the inside. Its like the micro fleece, but won't pill with use. You can buy it at the fabric store as well. It is a stay dry feeling fabric, easy to use as it doesn't fray and looks new after yrs of diaper use!
