I'm just asking because yesterday my dd wore these fir 2-3 hours, no problem and I changed them when they were dirty. This was with the included insert. She wore one overnight with a hemp babies little weeds insert, and again, no leaks. Thought we were good. Today after 2 hours in one she was soaked and leaking out and then when i put one on her this evening she soaked it after only 40 minutes! Is this normal? Should I get a different type of insert or should I be using 2? That seems like it would be really bulky for daytime. Anyway, just wondering what other people's experience is with this!

I find that she'll soak through them sometimes during the day. She just pees more than the diaper can hold or I just dont' change her as quickly as I should. Usually, when I take the diaper off, it's very wet, so I know it's just that she peed more than the diaper could hold. Occasionally she'll leak if the diaper isn't on right, but that's usually if someone else puts it on.

These were definitely soaked. The insert was completely saturated so it was then leaking out the sides. 40 minutes just seemed like too quick to me! I don't mind changing her every 2 hours or so, but I really don't want to do it every 40 minutes!

Sounds like she just had a really heavy wet, she likely would have saturated any diaper (except maybe a prefold) the BGOS inserts are one of the most absorbent out there. You could stuff it with a trifolded prefold, they hold the most in my experience, or use a hemp doubler. Don't think of it in terms of her soaking it after only 40 minutes, the time doesn't really matter, since you have to change her after she wets regardless of how long she had it on, and she can't possibly wet that much all day. Try to pay attention to what her wets are like, and when you know it is the time of day for her heavy wet, use an extra insert until she goes.
My little one has her most heavy wet in the morning, she will soak a prefold at that time of day, but the rest of the day I can even have her in a Kissaluvs without a doubler, it's just that morning pee. Its like she saves it up all night until after she's been changed and had her morning nursing, then she empties her bladder. I bet you will find a pattern with your DD too and will be fine if you just add extra absorbency at that time of day.
