i tried washing the diapers the way kelli does, since we are using the same stuff she is, prefolds and cubbies. but christian still got that crappy rashy thingy that closes his peepee hole he must have picked up a sensitivity/allergy to something in the last year. so now we are indefinitely stuck on sposies until baby kairi comes

nopperz we haven't. we stopped using CDs a couple months ago to see if they helped and it did, he doesn't have one single problem in sposies now, but that used to be the opposite. which is one reason we started CDing, he would get red irritation around his bum hole area with sposies, but now that doesn't happen anymore

He may just be sensitive to the type of detergent you are using (whether Charlie's or Dawn) Maybe try something else. Another thought, have you tried just putting some vaseoline on the tip of his penis to help protect it?

Brandon had something like that happen just from using the diapers overnight. I have no idea what caused it, but I started putting triple anitbiotic ointment on it or aquaphor (which is mostly vaseoline) and it cleared up finally. We haven't had the problem again. I did have to pull the hole apart as it had mostly closed and he was screaming when he was trying to pee. After I pulled it apart and put the ointment/aquaphor on it, it got better.

Oh no! That sucks! I thought cloth reduced rashes?

And I must have missed that you were having a girl! I was just wondering about that today, lol, and for some reason I thought you weren't finding out! I am such a dork! Congratulations, how exciting!

you're right, we weren't finding out, but financially we decided it would be smarter to find out in case it was a girl, and it was/is! so im glad we did find out. there's a lot we do have to get for a girl now, and im glad we can spread it over a few months rather than at one lump sum.

we tried the ointments and vaseline...it just didnt always work and it got very very bad. his urine cultrues came back with bacteria in them because of the closing.

we have changed detergents and systems 4 times! nothing is working.

I'm sorry it just isn't working.

I read your post and it didn't even phase me that you said her name. I don't know why, but I've been thinking you were having a girl all along. There's been times when I was about to buy something to send you for her, but then I'd remember you hadn't found out if it was and I'd stop myself. I guess now I can really buy something for her.

what other detergents should i try????

some i have in mind are:

country save (but should i go liquid or powder?)
sun free (but i cannot find where to buy it!)
planet liquid (recommended for hard water)
mountain green

all of these detergents are local so i can get them from the store. im leaning towards SUN and Planet....i will have to go get some tomorrow.

Target here carries Sun F&C, so you may want to try Target if you have one.

Theres a site pinstripes & polka dots i think that reviews detergents for cloth diapers. Sounds like its an enzyme in the detergent as its quite common for rashes in some little ones esp once they urinate.

Try checking inot it & see what detergents are rated

it's the only site i have used for detergents for 2 years...

so now im just going to try other things. i don't use enzyme detergents. i think it's just the hard water, which Planet is made for, looked for it today at VONS after talking with the company and VONS only had the dishwash stuff, i don't want that. i want the actual detergent.
