Tomorrow is the Marine Corps Ball, which my husband and I are going to... which means we have to have drop Seamus off at a child care center (the Ball committee hired a service for the families attending). My husband called them to ask if they will change cloth diapers... the lady said no... so we have to buy a pack of disposable diapers.

A whole pack for ONE night and he's probably only going to use one or two of them!

I don't think the lady knew much about cloth though... my husband said that she said "there will be 16 kids there, so cloth diapers wont be sanitary." My husband didn't want to argue with her and just said ok, but how is it ANY less sanitary than disposable diapers?!

Blarg. I guess I'll give the left overs to our downstairs neighbor... they just had a baby two days ago, and when she gets older I'm sure they can make use of the bigger sposies (they use disposables, I asked).

*sigh*

I know our walmart here sells diapers individually in the ladies bathroom. If you only need a couple it might be easier to spend 2 bucks for a couple rather than 15-16 bucks for a bunch that you won't use.

you should have said somethig earlier! i could have sent you a few! we still have to use them at night time cause if left in a CD for too long, christian breaks out still.

darn

i wouldn't have even asked them, no one asks "will you disposable diaper?" and ifind sposies unsanitary and offending. cloth diapering is your way of life, it isn't fair you have to change your ways for 2 diapers. i would just say he is allergic to the sposies and you have no other choice.

You could always show up and say, oops I forgot the dipes because I was running late.....I'm sure there will be plenty of sposies there since there will be 16 other children!

Thanks guys ( ), but we didnt know we needed sposies until right before I made this post. If I would have known sooner I would have posted sooner, lol.

DH is just going to buy the smallest pack we can find at the store, whatevers left over we'll keep on hand in case we're ever in this situation again (and if Seamus still fits that size). After that we're going to give them to our downstairs neighbor.

boo for sposies!

I agree! I went to show my aunt a Cubbie today and Tanith was wearing a sposie! My aunt had cloth-diapered all of her kids and I knew she'd appreciate them, but no! I was so embarrassed! And I also don't understand about daycares. They consider the diapers open sewage and 'can't ' store it where the children might get into it. However, you don't have to run a sposie out to the dumpster every time you change the kid, so I really don't understand the justification. Sorry for your situation!

^^ ditto karissa, i think a diaper in a sealed wetbag is much more sanitary than diapers in a trash can. and how about them times when a kid poos or pees on their clothes, they don't send them home! they put themin a ziplock and call it a day until mom and dad come to pick them up....why not do the same with a cloth diaper...it's sad how far from reality people are now in days.

Excellent point!

Well the Ball is over now and we're home. The smallest pack of sposies my husband could find at the store was a 40-pack. We used about 6 or so of the sposies, so we have a good 30-34 sposies left over. Well, we have them incase we ever need them, and if we don't we'll be giving them to our neighbor.

Those things are crappy though! I forgot how flimsy and gross they were until now! He had a blowout in the first disposable we put him in...

I am SOOO happy we use cloth!

You know what, I think that I would have just forgotten that the call was even made to them and took him anyway in the cloth and made them deal with it. They probably have NO clue what the heck cloth diapers even look like these days.

I was going to say, since you're going to a military ball, I assume a military base is nearby...you should go to Airman's Attic (Or whatever equivalent they have, and pick some up there).

But, it's over now. I hope you had fun!

I had bought a package of sposies last week (in preparation for when ds will be staying with friends when we go to the hospital); I was so embarassed to buy them . Anyway, I had to use some unexpectedly today because the people upstairs forgot to take their laundry out of the machine for the past 2 days and I was out of clean diapers. We had gone out for a few hours and when we stopped off for dinner we found that ds was soaked! He pee'd through the sposie, 2 layers of clothing and all over his carseat!!!! And he was only in the diaper for maybe 2 hours!
