What the heck are these things? I saw a small post about them in my DDC, and read a little too! Seems kind of expensive, $16.99 for something you flush down the toilet, no? Can someone tell me more about them?

They are cotton covers with a snap in plastic liner that you put a liner into (kind of looks like one of those pads they give you after birth) You flush the liner after it's been used (or you can compost the wet ones). I used the covers with pf's or loop-do's for a while, but the leg elastic on the cover loosened up AND the snaps started to get loose, so I stopped using them. I used the liners that came with the started kit a couple of times when we went out, and every time I did we had a leak! They also didn't flush well in my toilets (we have a fairly new house, so they are water savers, but still) I loved them for about 2 weeks and then realized they weren't worth the hassle. The company did say they would replace anything I had a problem with, but, really, do I want to bring three little kids to the post office once a week ?

I haven't had any problems with them wearing out, but after I ran out of liners (I bought a starter pack) I just used the covers with pfs. I never had any leaks with the liners, but I really prefer the pfs in them.

I like them too. I use prefolds in them as well. They are a great alternative to disposables when you are out and about. They are very trim and fit underneath clothing very well. And I too have not yet had any leaks.

Hmm....maybe it's just me with the leaks. Maybe because he's such a string bean? Or maybe because I was using a wet pail?
