So I had my first u/s this morning. According to my LMP I am 5 wks, 5 days, but I know that I have longer cycles. I am fairly certain I ovulated on the 13th though. So I went in and the ultrasound tech found the sac right away, but no bean She said the sac looked perfectly healthy and normal for how early it was and thought it looked more like 5 wks, 2 days, which would make sense based on my ovulation date. She said it was too early and so did my OB.

I am going back on the 15th for another u/s and for the full first prenatal appointment. I have been so nervous all day that I dont have a viable pg. I know its early and I am trying to be patient, but it was really hard to have seen what looked like an empty sac.

Anyone else go in for the first u/s and only see a sac and still have a full term pg?

I wanted to do an u/s when I passed those clots last week, but my midwife said at just about 4 weeks, we might only see the sac, and maybe not even that. She said she would recommend we wait until at least 6 weeks, but preferably 7 or 8. She said often times, in very early u/s, the embryo isn't visible (remember, it's just a couple of millimeters, at most, in size right now). It can cause unnecessary stress when everything is fine.

Try not to worry too much. It's still really early to see your bean! So, just because you couldn't see your bean yet doesn't mean something is wrong! The fact that you have a healthy sac growing is great sign! I'll be watching for updates!
