Are you drinking enough water every day?

The Mayo Clinic recommends that pregnant women should drink a minimum of 10 glasses of water each day. If you plan on breastfeeding after baby arrives, you need to drink at least 13 glasses of water each day!

Not getting enough water leads to dehydration, which, during pregnancy can cause contractions and pre-term labor. It is essential for the health of you and your baby that you get plenty of water!

Did you know that if you feel thirsty, it's because you are already getting dehydrated! Many of us are living already dehydrated every day!

Thanks to Jaidynsmum for my new siggy!

I don't know if it was subconscious or instinctual, but since the moment I saw that "Pregnant" sign, I have had my glass of water with lime beside me pretty much constantly. But I have been reading more reports about how the feeling of thirst is the proper trigger to go by, only many of us have lost the intuition to read that until we're parched. The same reports also talk about how it's simpler to give people "glass per day" directions, but that each of us, with our varying metabolisms and bodies, requires different amounts of water. Sorry for the diatribe, this area of nutrition that looks at individualizing what we should eat and drink fascinates me.

Hmmm...now I'm thirsty, where's that glass?
