What is the normal length of the first appointment if there is an ultrasound as well? My appointment is at 1PM and I have to be back at school at 2:20 for my last class. The doctor's office is right across the street from my school. I am not sure if I should take a half day or if I'll be back in time.

If it were me, I'd take a half day if that's an option. You just never know...especially with the first appointment. And you never know if the clinic is going to be on schedule, or running behind. They may not get you back at exactly 1:00, ya know? I wouldn't want to be rushed and stressed about making it back to work on time. I'd rather be able to enjoy the appointment as much as possible!

Every doc is different really. At my office the first appointment does not include an u/s that is scheduled separately. The first appointment is just with a nurse to go over medical history, previous pregnancies, weight, blood and urine tests and they go over office policies, what not to eat/do etc. It does take an hour to get all that done. If they are then going to do an u/s too it could take even longer.

Going in today at 12:15 since I was cramping yesterday and with the history of ectopic I wanted to get checked out. My husband was looking forward to going with me on Tuesday (my original appointment). Don't know if they will keep that one or not.

I agree with the other ladies. Normally all they do is go over things, blood work, do stats, and sometimes will do a pelvic exam (especially if you haven't had a pap in awhile). Hopefully it won't take too long. Sometimes Ihave to wait awhile for the doctor and it's so frustrating!
