So...when I was talking to a good friend of mine (who has four sons), she made a comment that I should be grateful I have another anterior placenta because it makes the belly smaller. She got that info from her midwife. Apparently, many women who have anterior placentas carry the baby smaller out front, since the excess water, baby parts can "squeeze" between organs and into internal crevices, versus laying on top of the placenta and having to be pushed outward.

And in truth, she carried her second (posterior placenta) MUCH bigger than her third (anterior placenta).

I wonder if there is, in fact, some truth to this. I am not totally on board, since it sounds "old wives tale-ish." But, I did carry my babies pretty tiny and both were anterior placentas.

Thoughts? Rebuttals? Experiences?

That would make a lot of sense cause with my son i had an anterior placenta and i didn't even show till i was 21 weeks and this time i think it is posterior and i'm pretty big and i know it can't just be because this is my 2nd

Well it's certainly an interesting supposition! Though I'm not really sold either I just realized (by reading the stuff from my 11 week appointment) that I have an anterior placenta.
