I'm thinking I don't like this doctor so much afterall. When I made the appt. I was told that I would be the first after lunch and should have no trouble getting seen on time. The doctor was 45 minutes late with no apology whatsoever and then the whole appointment took like two minutes. She BRIEFLY heard the heartbeat on doppler (yay!) didn't even feel the position of my uterus or anything. I asked about results from the latest ultrasound, asked about my blood pressure (still high, darn it) and it was clear from her answers that she didn't even glance at my chart before coming into the room. She didn't even have any notes from my previous ultrasound, just said if anything was amiss they would have called me. Really? I liked her ok before but everything about this visit felt very rushed and unprofessional. And then she told me she thinks my m/c this summer was because of low Vitamin C. She has absolutely no reason to think that... I guess she was trying to reassure me that things will be better this time, but that was (I think) a stupid and insensitive thing for her to say.

This doc was recommended by somebody I respect, but I think I'll start asking around to find somebody else. Still, I'm thrilled to have heard the heartbeat- even for just a few seconds.

I would never accept being brushed aside by my doctor like that. You need to go with your gut. If you didn't feel like you got the care you sought and deserved, then trust your instincts and find a new practice. At least you are finding this out now and not right before your due date.

If you're not happy I'd definitely look into other doctors. I absolutely loved the doctor I had with my first two, and I really like my new doctor so far. I can't imagine going the whole pregnancy with someone I didn't feel was giving me their full attention. Good luck

Yay for the heartbeat, though! <3

I'd look for someone else. Personally, the female doctors I've had were pretty unsympatheic. I hate when my doctor isn't there and I end up seeing one of them. My bp was high too and I had to point it out to the female doctor, while my doctor noticed right away.

You should feel comfortable with whoever you see.

I would change too. I also have had problems with female OBs being pretty darn rude and unsympathetic. I prefer the older male drs cuz they know their stuff and they are super sympathetic and kind.

Yep, leave! Visits with the doctor should be all about reassurance and time to finally get your questions answered. Anything less than that is unacceptable. But yay for getting to hear the hb!

I have an older male doctor and I asked him on our first appointment how long he had been delivering babies for. And he was shy to admit he has been doing it for 31 years like he didn't want to admit how old he was. I reassured him that I would rather have the guy who has been doing it for 30 years than the kid who started last week.

I would change too. I had a strange appointment last time at 7 weeks ish and I wasn't comfortable with the OB. She seemed to repeat everything we had gone through the first appointment and it was frustrating that she just didn't look back in her notes. She also took FOREVER. We were there for over two hours but only saw her for a short time. Today I had an appoinment with a new OB and it was the best decision I ever made

I agree about getting a new dr sweetie. You need someone you feel confident in. I wish I knew more of the drs in my practice but since it is a new high risk practice I feel like they ALL take a lot of time to answer questions and go over anything. That is how it should be! ((HUGS))
