Hello ladies! Well I'm home after an evening in L&D. I did what DH said and called my ob nurse and they called back and told me to go to the hospital. Got in and hooked up to the machines and yikes- contractions were 2-3 minutes apart They checked my cervix - 2 cm and 50% effaced. And as she checked me, my mucous plug came out- ewwwww! That was not pleasant.

Turns out my uterus was "being irritable" and they thought that maybe I needed more fluids. I told them that all I'd been doing was drinking water all day. I told them I averaged about a half a gallon a day...turns out it's supposed to be 1 gallon a day Really? How the heck can I live if I'm peeing every 5 minutes?

They wanted to avoid giving me terbutaline because it makes me so jittery, so instead they gave me an entire bag of IV fluid to see if that would curb the contractions. They are still coming but they are further apart now, like 8-10 minutes. The best part was that Elijah was doing great. Strong heartbeat and very active between contractions.

So in the end, they think that I am very close. I figured I was as DD was born at 36 weeks. They are trying to buy little guy time because any baby born before 36 weeks automatically gets a stay in the NICU, even if they are thriving I will be 36 weeks next Wednesday. The nurse seemed skeptical that I would make it that long, but she hopes that I can. I just have to stay tethered to my gallon jug and come back in if the contractions get close together again or the dark brown blood becomes bright red. And no more work... too risky and too physical.

That is all for now- I'm hoping the contractions will stop with sleep, but fear I will be up all night peeing my IV fluid. Thanks to my DDB for being on standby!!

Get yourself as much rest as you can! Praying Elijah (love that name!) can make it a little longer to avoid any NICU stays!!

Yikes. Yeah drink drink drink. Was DD healthy? I hate that rule that they have to stay in the NICU before 36wks. :-/. My DS1 was born at 34wks and didn't have to go to the NICU. I hope he stays put a while!
