I have a question for those mommies who already have an established work out routine.

I started working out in October at Planet Fitness and I go 4-5 days a week for about an hour and a half. Im usually on the elliptical for about 45 minutes then I get on the treadmill to cool down for about 20 minutes. After Im done with my cardio I head over to the strength training and do a 30 minute workout of abs, legs, arms, chest.

So far it's helped me lose 15 pounds which Im very proud of! My question is, I want to keep working out now that I have my bfp, but what exactly can I do or continue to do without it posing a risk in the first trimester?

I have been wondering the same thing! That seems similar to my routine I go to PF as well. Some of the other ladies on here told me that exercise is great just don’t over do it and keep the weight to 15lbs or less.

I am going to talk to my dr as well and find out what is and isn’t safe. I also made an appointment with the trainer at my pf and he said he can help me design a different daily routine that is less intense but will still keep me in shape. Maybe you could do the same!

You can pretty much do everything that you are already doing before you got pregnant. The biggest thing that you need to worry about is that your balance will be come off and your ligaments and stuff will become more loose so you're more prone to falling or getting hurt so you just need to be careful with what you're doing. In the first trimester you can pretty much keep doing everything, actually one thing you're not supposed to do is aerobic exercises. I run 4 miles a day because that is what I'm used to and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. You also have to make sure that you are not getting out of breath because not only do you need the oxygen but you need the oxygen to get to your baby and this is something that your body will use up first. Starting in the second trimester it is not good to do any exercises where you are laying on your back because your uterus is too big and it presses on things that lose blood pressure down there. Sorry I am using voice to text for this so if something is a little off I'll fix it later or you will probably get it still

Mostly your body will let you know what it can and cannot do. Just listen to it and don't overdo it.

Everyone is different so its best to talk to your doctor about it. I was working out prior to my BFP but after i got pregnant my personal trainer said skip the eliptical and just go on the treadmill for no more then 30 minutes. I think the key to working out in the first tri is to not overheat your body. It can be dangerous, she also lowered my weights after i got pregnant too. I started spotting after a workout session with her and since then my doctor said no more gym until August. but i have also had a loss resently so shes just taking extra precaution. Talk to your doctor. They will know whats best for you

Thank you ladies. I do plan on talking with my doc but my next appointment isnt until the second week of january. I went to the gym today and I was able to still do everything I did before except I paced myself so I wouldnt be out of breath. I think it went very well!
