Lots of questions for you! I started with a moby when Connor was born (May) and it was SO HOT, he would sweat SO MUCH in it, so I sold it. Then we tried a mei tei and he didn't care for it. I finally found an ergo and we both loved it, but he was like 6m or so when that happened.

I would really like a sling type carrier for this newborn. I would like something that's easy to nurse in, as well as something that won't overheat in the dead of summer in FL!! I'm thinking a ring sling would be good, your thoughts? Any specific brand of ring sling (there are so many from the May to homemade!! I can't decide!)

Another type of carrier that you might suggest? I don't want to spend as much money as the wraps are, and I don't really want that big of a learning curve for it. Thanks for your thoughts!

Ring slings are really good for nursing, I have heard great things about Sleeping Baby Productions.

I do not have much experience with ring slings, as I used a pouch sling and a wrap.

I used a ring sing called the Maya wrap with my second child - that was 8 years ago. I loved it (and actually still have it). It grows with the child.

You can also get the Maya wrap pattern and make your own. I think my ring cost $5 and the fabric was no more than $10. I actually preferred the Moby wrap to the ring sling, but I do agree it is hot

I prefer a woven wrap to a ring sling because it feels more secure to me. You can find some used ones for as low as $65 on The Baby Wearer. If you want to go for a cheap good ring sling, I second Sleeping Baby Productions. I like her pleated shoulder and you can go for a linen blend if you're worried about the heat. I personally have never had a problem wearing my baby in a woven wrap in 100+ degree heat though. It's warm, but not unbearable.
