So Im a dummy since my son was born in June but I cant for the life of me remember what I bought for him to wear his first summer. My first thought was didnt he wear summer clothes but then I thought wait what about the air conditioning? What are you all buying? I am going to get some light weigh sleepers and onesies with maybe some light pants and baby legs but I need summer stuff too right for when they go out, just take blankets with you? I feel so silly since I did this almost 3 Junes ago but that whole time is like a blur to me and also I tend to get cold really easily and tend to overdress as I hate to be cold even in the summer (I can wear pants till about 85-90 degrees comfortably and need a light coat or sweater around 70-75 degrees ) so I dress my kids the way I like to be dressed which my husband (who gets hot at like 40 degree weather) says is unfair since they might not be like me and more like him and get hot easier.

I have always been told 1 less layer in the summer and 1 more layer in the winter than you would wear but in your case I would say less than the normal person. Babies get overheated and colder faster.

I always just did onesies. I swaddled in bed, so I didn't worry about footed jammies or anything for sleeping.

I guess it depends on what your summers are like. Where I live it doesn't feel like summer until late July so most of the newborn stuff I'm getting is long sleeved. Lightweight cotton, but still covered up. When we go out I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing or nursing him most of the time so a onesie with lightweight pants should be fine. Hen it gets really hot I just do short sleeve onesies and socks and make sure to keep baby out of the sun. Nobody has air conditioning here because it isn't hot long enough! Makes for a few miserable days every August, though!

I have been wondering this too but here is what I have decided!

It does get pretty hot where I live so I am going with a lot of short sleeve onesies and one-piece short outfits and sun hats for when we are out. (That and I will be keeping him covered most the time anyway).

We do have AC that we run a lot in the summer so I am going with cotton pants and socks to match for when we are inside.

I am going to do long sleeve footie pajamas for at night because we like to keep the house cool while we sleep

I only have one summer baby (so far) and we used a lot of onesies and light sleepers. Looking back at pictures it looks like he lived in onesies.

M was born in June in Mississippi... overnight lows in the 70s, highs in the 90s with really high humidity never ever got cool. We tried to keep our AC reasonable, I think we kept it 74 during the day and 70 at night. M was often in just a cloth diaper and a T shirt or tank dress type top. We had muslin receiving blankets and sleep sack, we'd put a blanket on her for a few minutes when the AC came on. And we had some cotton socks we used a lot since her toes seemed to get chilly.

In the NEW newborn period, we used hats and blankets more, but pretty quickly she didn't need that anymore.

For baby boy we will need some more little long sleeve items I think. It gets very chilly here in the NorCal coast, we get more morning fog in the summertime, the highs are generally in the mid 70s. He will need pants too I think. But layers that we can remove when it warms up in the afternoon.

I'm just getting lightweight sleepers and onesies. DD was already 6 months + but I remember her being really hot all the time and letting her sit around in onesies, sometimes just a diaper depending on the weather. I HATE being hot and I get insane heat rash so my AC will be up full blast so most of the sleepers I got have feet and/or long sleeves but still light weight. June here usually isn't too bad out, about 23-25 celsuis if we're lucky

I am in TX and June - Sept. are pretty brutal outdoors and freezing cold when indoors so most likely onsies/shorts for going out with lightweight blanket incase the AC is cold. Our biggest issue is typically the car/carseat so layers are a must.
