My name is Amanda and I'm new here! I've actually been lurking for a while, but I have very weird cycles and didn't know for sure when I was due or how far along I was or anything, so I decided to hold off before I jumped into the fray!

Anyway, my husband and I are expecting our first on September 20th! For once it seems like I had a normal cycle because my dating ultrasound last night put me right on track with my LMP! Normally my cycles last 35-42 days so I would usually ovulate at least a week later than most.

About us- we've been together since August 2008 and were just married on October 13, 2012. We stopped using contraception right around the time of the wedding, but we were really trying. I always figured I would take a long while to get pregnant, and might need help. SO, I am flabberghasted that it happened so easy! Also, EXTREMELY grateful.

We are a bit concerned about finances for the maternity leave because I found out just two weeks before taking the positive test that I was denied short term disability coverage (I enrolled during open enrollment), so all I will have for leave is about 4 weeks of vacation time, but we'll work it out! We're working on being more frugal and paying off as much as we can/putting money away.

Anyway, about the pregnancy: I had my first prenatal visit on Tuesday. It was my first visit with this office and I really liked it a lot! Unfortunately, my BP was high so I have to do a 24 hour urine test this weekend (to check for protein) and follow up with my primary care doctor as well. I have that appointment on Monday. Also, my progesterone on Tuesday came back at only 16.5 which my OB thought was slightly low so when I went for my ULS last night, I had that rechecked. The ultrasound was great!!!! The baby was moving around it's little arms and legs and hubster and I were so excited, also there was a nice strong HB of 170! But, I got a call today that my progesterone dropped again to 15.8. I'm going tomorrow for another draw. I'm hoping it will be ok. I'm already quite in love with my little peanut.

Oh, I was going to post the pic from the ultrasound...but, I haven't posted enough. So, I will come back and add it or post again once I can!

Sorry this was so long!

ETA: forgot to say the ultrasound puts me at 9 weeks 4 days!

congrats!! i had high bp with my first pregnancy and took medication my whole pregnancy to regulate it. i had no issues with my daughter and i was able to go to almost 39 weeks with my son so overall if they catch it now its much better than having issues down the line. in my situation it was really relatively a minor issue. can't wait to see your little jelly bean's picture!
