Any suggestions how to switch a babys night and day.

During the day Tiergan sleeps the whole day, only wakes for feeds, and maybe one 15 minute period where she is alert. But once night comes she is wide awake. She won't settle no matter what we do. If she is held or given attention she won't cry but as soon as she is put down she will cry. She also wants to do the majority of her cluster feeds over night.

we have tried bath before bed, and tried it early in the day as well,
we try to settle her in swing, bouncy chair, on us and put her in the bed completely asleep, and tried to put her in the cradle slighly awake to let her settle, we have tried her with a soother, we have tried singing, we have tried with and without music. We have tried heating pad on the mattress for a few minutes before she is put in so that its nice and warm. We have tried to keep her awake more during the day but she just isn't interested.

Bright lights and loud noises throughout the day. Use lots of excitement. We'll strip Clara down to her diaper (she loves being naked) and lay with her on the couch and talk to her. We've brought out the play mat too and also do some tummy time.

At night, the room is kept dark and quiet except for the fan blowing. I change and feed her and then lay her down. She's usually asleep after nursing though but occasionally I'll lay her down awake. We turn all the lights out and she'll fall asleep or fuss to be nursed.

I'd try feeding her more throughout the day too and see if that helps.

Have you tried a noise machine? Not necessarily music - just white noise. That helped DD1

ditto the lights and normal noises of the day. Right now, I have Cruz sleeping in his carseat (from a trip to the store) on the couch while his older sisters are running around the house being loud and playing.

Mom to 4 beautiful kids! 3 on Earth and 1 in heaven. Our little girl, Matilda Hope had Down Syndrome. She was born with TMD, a disease that is like leukemia. She fought that and beat it. Then, she had liver failure. She beat that, too. On October 17, 2014 she had NEC, necrotizing enterocolitis. My baby went to Heaven on October 19, 2014. She lived exactly one month.

My pedi told me not to try until he is 12 weeks. She said just let them lead. I know it is exhausting. If they gradually switch that is ok but it is not that good to keep a baby awake when they want to sleep. Very stressful for them.

The old lady next door told me to hold her upside down by her ankles and that would switch her days and nights.....Call me crazy, but I will not be doing this! Lol! Just keep doing the same routine everyday and eventually they will catch on. By the time my first was 6 weeks old and I had to go back to work, she had worked her way back to a normal person's day/night routine. We are trying to do the same with this little girl. She is slightly more stubborn than my first.

Thank you *Kiliki* for my amazing siggy!!!

Lurking from May DDC. My mom told me I had my nights and days backward as a baby as well. Finally she got tired of it and took a wet washcloth and for an entire day every time I fell asleep she would wash my face and wake me up. Says it only took one day of that to break me and I slept at night from then on.
