I feel so bad for Lincoln, he strains SO hard whenever he poops. His face turns dark red and he makes a loud, drawn out grunting sound. But his poo is typical BF liquidy poo so I don't know why it's so hard for him to get it out. I didn't experience this with my other two and it really seems to bother him, but I don't know what I can do to help.

We had this discussion witth our GP, who had just been to a conference about it. Apparently it boils down to babies not having strong abdominal muscles, pooping against graviety and not having anything to brace against (like a toliet seat, or even something to hold on to).

Taylor does, so did my son. I always figured it was because they are still learning how to use their muscles to poo. What Briar said makes a lot of sense to me.

Mine does the same thing as well. The pedi said that it's normal. He said the some babies take a little longer to get used to pooping or like Briar08 said they don't have anything brace against.

Well it makes me feel better that it seems to be normal. I just feel so bad for him, it looks uncomfortable. I'll be glad when he gets a little bigger, really hoping all his tummy issues resolve soon.

He just started doing this more and more. Luckily he seems to be able to work it out before too long though, and his poops are still normal so I'm not too concerned.

Thanks *Kiliki* for my amazingly perfect siggy!
