My husband is away for work this week. I feel like crap. Stressed over work and preparing for Passover. My kids are being anything less than angelic.
I've been vomiting the past 2 days...
My nt scan is tomorrow, I purposefully scheduled a 7:30 am appt so I wouldn't miss work and DH was going to take the kids to school. Now I need to drop them off at my sister before 7 am bc DH is away.
My NT scan is gonna cost me $1100 out of pocket and my dr does maternit21 anyway but he still insists that I need nt too.

And today we get a bill for $500 for genetic testing on my DH that my Obgyn does routinely at the first prenatal visit. I'm pissed bc we specifically asked the dr if insurance covers it and he said yes. Guess what, insurance only paid 3200 of the $3700 bill. What the f***???

So now I am convinced my dr is just overtesting. While I love him I'm not sure i agree with the practices testing policy now.

So... I'm Sick, exhausted , confused and PISSED.

You're dealing with a lot all at once!

Don't forget, though, that you're the one in control. Your doctor cannot force you to get any testing or ultrasounds that you don't want. You have every right to decline anything you don't find necessary.

If I wher eyou I'd probably just do the Mat21! That really sounds like you are getting ripped off having to pay that much for the NT scan on top of everything else. You do NOT have to do every test a doctor says! heck I didn't even do the GD test with my last baby, I knew I was fine and I get way sick if I don't eat so I choose not to.

Sheesh, mama, that's a lot! It's strange that they're pushing the NT scan so hard in addition to the Maternit21.

I hope you get some answers from the insurance company. It's always frustrating when you get an unexpected bill.

*Excitedly expecting baby girl number two!*

Thank you to Babydoll213 for my fabulous siggie!

It is so hard when you make plans thinking dh can help only to have them not available Also I would definitely have a talk with the doc about all the testing -it definitely seems excessive considerng your out of pocket costs...

I would skip to the NT. Just call your Dr and say that you can't do it because your DH is out of town. The only thing the NT can see that the Materi21 (or however you spell that) doesn't test for is spinabifida (sp) which they should be able to see at the 20 weeks scan anyway! I would also ask your ins company why they didn't pay more? Maybe it is your deductible or something?

Thanks Kiliki for my AWESOME siggie!!!

Insisting on the NT scan in addition to the Maternit21 does not make sense to me. I would talk to your Dr. again. They really cant force you. It sucks not having DH around when you are feeling so sick. Hang in there
