I'm five weeks pp and have certain aches and pains and am wondering if anyone is in the same boat.
I had a c-section and had an epidural. My back still hurts from where they put the epidural, but it also just hurts in general. sometimes it's my lower back, sometimes my upper back. It's so bad I actually think I need physical therapy. I also think I really got into the habit of hunching especially bad during this last pregnancy. It hurts my back to sit on the floor, even some of our couches at home, in a seat without a back, and even sitting in the car. I sometimes want to blame the hunching or holding the baby too much or maybe just the fact that I have so much milk and my breasts have probably grown. My back hurts everyday. By the time I finish up my day, my back hurts so badly I just need lay down to feel some sort of relief. Like if I've cooked dinner by the time I'm done I sometimes feel like I can't walk without pain.
I also have some sort of pelvic bone problem of sorts. I can't lay on one side for too long without feeling like my pelvic bone is caught. It pops, which is most times a little painful, and then I can move. Sometimes I feel the pain in my back. Like lower back.
Other times I feel like something gets caught when I walk, like when I was pregnant.
And then Saturday I was sitting on the couch and I was showing my sister DD1's Easter dress and then turned to my right a bit to just put the dress next to me on the couch and my left hip felt like it popped out. It was pretty painful for a while.

Is any of this normal? Am I the only one experiencing this?

Sounds like you suffered from SPD pretty badly while you were pregnant. I had popping hips and pubic bones til 2 weeks pp but I am lucky. Sometimes, I've heard, it can take a while for things to go back into place but I was advised to see the chiropractor while your pelvis is still pretty maliable so it doesn't set incorrectly. As for the back pain, make sure you bring baby up to you to nurse and don't hunch down to feed. I hunch down and my upper back just kills. Have you tried taking hot baths to relax your tense muscles? It sounds like you're pretty tense and a hot bath should help your pelvis too. In the middle of the night try to move your knees and ankles as one entity, that way you won't pop as much.

I'm just past 7 weeks postpartum and I have to say recovery has been slower than I had expected. I have the same problem that you're talking about with the puncture point from the epidural. (I had to have it done twice--idiot first dude, thanks!--so I figured that might be making it more irritated.) It's really just that point that hurts though, not the whole back. Sorry you're in so much pain there.

Otherwise I feel my nether regions are not feeling quite right just yet. And when I tried to start mild exercise -- very, very slow and pathetic lunges -- I bled the next day so I've been hesitant to try again.

I had my pp visit at 4 weeks and got the "all's fine" (really?! really?!) so I'll probably call to get another look at things since I'll be out of town for 6 weeks starting at the end of April and don't want things to get worse while I'm away.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

I'm nearly 9 weeks post partum and have all those problems. My OBs nurse told me to just get used to it, that it never goes away. Fades some but never truly heals completely. Pregnancy permanently changes your body. You're never the same.

I'm sneaking in from the January board, hope y'all don't mind. I'm 10 weeks PP and everything is really much much better. I've had horrific upper back pain. I finally saw a doctor of osteopathy, and he said I have some ribs that are out of place where they connect to my spine. He gave me some quick physical therapy, and I have a follow-up with him, a specialist-masseuse, and a chiropractor. He said that between the relaxing of the body, and baby putting pressure on my ribs, that it is not uncommon. Just time for it to heal.

Otherwise, trust me, it continues to get better. I worked out through my ENTIRE pregnancy, but struggled for weeks after birth. Today was the first day I felt like I had an actual really awesome work-out. I've been bleeding randomly, and I have actually been blaming my progesterone only birth control pills. Now that you mention it though, it seems to coincide with the days that I work out. I guess I was blaming the wrong culprit!

I had a lot of these problems from SPD with DS1. I want to say it went away after about 4mos post partum. I was lucky enough to not have it as bad this time around.
