Seems like a few of us have had NICU babies ...

The NICU was a lot scarier than I expected but I'm glad my baby girl got all the care she needed and is now 100% perfect

We had a nurse in the NICU that we couldn't stand though, really ruined my experience and I wrote a letter to the hospital about her. She was mean and rude to everyone and didn't even believe my SO was the father because we don't have the same last name, it was downright embarrassing!

ew Yuck on the nurse thing...That's awful...glad you wrote a letter though! The NICU was the hardest thing in the world the last time I delivered. It was hard because I had to leave the baby behind. Hoping we don't need the NICU this time, but it is the best care your baby can get!!!

I'm hoping for no NICU because the closest unit is two hours away.

I'm hating the nicu. I feel like only half a mother(babies room in with mom 24/7 here). I'm hurting bad from the section because I'm pushing myself too much. I am hoping in 36 hours his blood work comes back infection free. Then we can be together. Im lonely for Fatty NoName

That's horrible about the nurse! Glad you had the nerves to complain about her!

NICU is a nerve wracking experience. My second was in the nicu - I'm hoping to steer clear of there this time.

I still burst into tears when I think back to Maggie's delivery and her time in the NICU. I agree that it was the absolute best care she could have gotten but it just haunts me.

Posting from the NICU...

It has definitely been a very different experience this time with a baby in the NICU, vs having been able to keep Grace with me the whole time last time around. I have just felt so terrible about not being able to cuddle or breast feed, and seeing her with all the monitors and tubes and IVs and such is not easy. BUT...things are much better now that I've been discharged and can stay with her in her room. Also, she is improving like a champ, and we're very fortunate. She's now breastfeeding and off oxygen, and no longer on IVs, so we've been able to bond with her more. It was tough yesterday to pack up and leave the hospital without her. Hopefully very soon we'll all be leaving together!

Missa_Mae I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with a nurse. That is unusual to me that she was confused that you and your SO didnt have the same last name. In the unit I worked in, it was a common occurrence so we didn't blink an eye.

Praying for all of you NICU moms. I've never been through it but have seen how hard it is for mommies having to leave their babies. Hoping all NICU stays are short and sweet!!

It was the hardest part for me to pack up and leave the hospital without my baby. And not to have her home for 5 weeks was terrible.Im sorry you had a terrible experience with a nurse.I as well had one with a woman that looked like DEmi moore and my husband would joke everytime we seen her and say no wonder ashton left you it was a inside joke and made us feel better hopefully she recovers soon and you have a short stay

I don't have experience with a NICU baby, but I can imagine what a difficult experience it must be. (The hospital where I will deliver does not even have one, so they would have to fly baby out if needed...I do not want to even think about that). I hope all our April NICU babies have short stays and are in mama's arms soon!!
