I am feeling a little frustrated at how so many baby products are filled with chemicals and are harmful to babies. If you want to buy something without these things it it costs double or more the amount of money.

Changing pad for example. After researching I found out how bad they are and how they release toxic gases. I found organic ones that start at $50-100 when you can buy a chemical filled one for $15.

I found this that looks interesting too:

I know what you mean. I want to buy natural "green" products too, but we can't afford to buy everything that way, b/c things are twice as much or more! We did get a more natural mattress for the crib and also I am looking into natural body products, particularly those that don't test on animals. Those things are also really expensive!!

I have been obsessed with organic products for babies since DD was about a year old and I started reading about things like parabens and pthalates that are so bad for you and are in almost everything. Brands like California Baby are out of control expensive. If you can find a local store that specializes in organic stuff, things can be cheaper there. I think Mom's Organic Market is a regional chain and we have them here. I get all of DD's products there and also things like hand soap for the whole house. I also switched to all Seventh Generation cleaning products (and many of them work better than the nasty kind). Some of the baby care stuff that I get at Mom's is half the price of California Baby and only slightly more expensive than chemical filled stuff. Rainbow is a good brand. Love their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I get all unscented. I even used the shampoo for a couple of days when I ran out and I really liked it. It's all in shopping around.

Most of my venting is from big things that I just get frustrated with why they have to make them with terrible things in them.

Like carseats, I have been researching how toxic many of them are!! I am going to call Britax and Chicco to ask about this because my friend told me that she called Britax and they were making their car seat materials with less toxic materials starting January of this year.

I do shop around for "green" products and I try to make my own when I can. I mostly only use vinegar and water for light house cleaning. I also have had good luck ordering things on Vitacost.
