I just wanted to let you know that I love the name you have chosen for your son. Our first child is also Aleksander. I noticed in one of your posts that you will call him Alek. That is exactly what we have called out child. Get ready for everyone to call him Alex or Alec. He was so cute in preschool correcting people. I love it.

I was always a stickler about NOT wanting people to shorten my children's names but I figured I might as well get used to Alek, and it seems to be growing on me I know Alexander is a very popular name and I wanted something that was a bit more European as well. Aleksander is more often used in Poland and Oleksander is the Ukrainian version but I wasn't fond of the O spelling.

None of my friends like my name choice haha so it's nice to hear someone say not only that they like it, but that they've used it as well!

The family of my DH is Polish. Didn't really select it for that reason (although it now makes a great reason). I loved the name Alec and wanted him to have a full name. Therefore Alek and Aleksander worked so well. Inconvenient at times. I love it all the same. I think you will be happy in your choice.

I love it! No one really likes our name choices either so I just stopped telling people. You guys are the only people that really know them.

I've gotten a lot of flak about my kid's names too. According to DH's family, the name Fiona is hoity-toity, and Finnegan is ridiculous. I love my kid's names so screw them, lol.

And I like Alek too, I think it's great.
