His unit has many soldiers who have babies of course and there has never been an issue unless they were deployed or about to deploy. My DH informed them that I was pregnant as soon as we found out just so they would know. They told him they wanted to send him to this school in August and he said my wife is due around that time, they told him to bring in a letter from the dr and it would be fine they would switch him to the October class instead, so he did that 3 months ago. Now they are telling him that I have to be high risk otherwise he has to go in August to school (in Illinois for 45 days)!!!! Its ticking me off because he did what was asked of him, they are NOT deploying, and whenever the ex wife calls and throws a fit over nothing or makes up lies they bow down to her!!!! I don't even bother these people and I think its unfair and its really upsetting me!

Oh that sucks!
We had to do the EXACT same thing with my husband's unit. He was set to leave for school in August for 4 months and they needed an actual OB's letter with the army seal on the top explaining that he had to be here in August to help because I am having a c section. They took that as high risk and granted it. Now he leaves for school may of 2014!

Is there anyway your doctor can put on there that you need help because you have another child in the house? He can also go up the chain of command and see if he can do anything with the CO's. *HUGS* He should also still get his 10 days of Paternity leave as well.

Oh goodness, I'm sorry! You military wives have my utmost respect. My husband works a lot and is largely out of control of his work schedule, but I can't imagine the frustration of being told you're going to have to leave your family when your child will likely be born. You're doing a great job! If there are appropriate ways to raise a fuss, I'd do it.

I'm not from this DDC but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you! We were scheduled to PCS June 30th of last year and I was due June 18th and my husband had to submit paperwork three times to get them to change it to end of July. Be persistent!! I hope everything works out.

I'm so sorry hon that sounds very stressful I hope your OB can help you guys get it all worked out. I mean, you just never know how the birth will go, you know? Even if a pregnancy isn't high risk there is still a chance you will have a csection or rough vaginal delivery (hopefully not) and need a lot of help afterwards.

Good luck, I hope they're able to rearrange!!

I can commiserate though! My husband's submarine is scheduled to be out to sea for a few weeks before/during/after my due date- he told them immediately when we found out about the baby (because this underway was scheduled that far back) and he was told he could miss it. And then they said they'd send him home a few weeks before instead. Last we heard, and this seems to be the official word, he'll be flown home a couple of days prior to my due date. Chase was born 5 days early so I'm really kind of worried that he won't make it in time to see her born

I am sooo sorry you are going through that! I grew up in a military family and my ex was in so I know how it goes. The easiest way would be to get your doctor to write that he is needed for the birth because technically they can send him regardless of due date without breaking any rules. If they ever do break rules, though.. you can always go up his chain of command (or even jump the chain since you arent the active one- he cant but you can.. even though it is seen as very obnoxious for military spouses to do that so prob. not good unless emergency) and if rules are ever seriously broken, you can go to IG (I've had to have an investigation launched when my ex ended in the hospital due to someone high ranking and got her busted down and having many higher ups apologizing to me!) .. but unfortunately, they are allowed to do that and it stinks!! Hopefully the doctors note works.
