So my Dr went on vacation this week and due to scheduling I missed her last week. Well I called to set up an appt with her as soon as she gets back only to be told there are no available appointments with her until after my due date!!! Argh! For real people!! Its at the end of my pregnancy for crying out loud you think the clinic would prioritize her patients. I'm at the point where they are doing cervical checks at every appointment pretty much and I have to see some Dr I have never even met before one week before my due date. Grr!! I really miss my old OB that I had with DD....unfortunately he is several states away! Ugh!!!!

Can't the double book her? My midwife told me to tell the scheduling people to do that because I was so close to due at the time.

'Scuse the bad typing, please. 'Breast is Best' but not when browsing the internet!

That sucks, I'm sorry! I was afraid of that happening so I booked all of my appts through 40 weeks when I was 32 weeks to make sure I didn't have to worry about it. I knew I would never get an appt that I could do if I tried to book a week out. Have you tried asking if you could leave a voicemail for your dr and see if she would try to work you in? I would give that a shot, at least.

That's annoying! My office schedules the 37-40 week appointments all at one time to avoid issues like that

I have already had problems with the scheduling. Last time I tried to schedule an appt before this I got yelled at for even wanting an appt with my Dr. Because she was supposedly overbooked then.

That sucks! I also scheduled several appointments in a row once I got to where I was going weekly, that way I could get a day & time that would work. I have only one left before my due date & I tried to schedule one for after just in case, but the lady told me to wait and see if my doctor would want to do an ultrasound or NST or something at the one after my due date (if I go past it onviously) and she said they would fit me into the schedule no matter what. I have only seen my doctor the whole time. I'm not sure how that's worked out bc surely she's had to deliver some babies! Kind of makes me wonder if I'll end up with a doctor I've never met at delivery though! I hope not!

That sucks. You would think they would want their patients who are that close to delivery to be seen one last time by the OB. I saw my OB today and then I won't see her again till my c-section date (If I go that far) since she starts vacation on friday. I'm ok though since she has spoken to all her OB's in her group about my issues so that everyone is on the same page as her.

I was told that the practice was my doc - not a partricular physician. We had a "discussion" that I felt otherwise. I was willing to see all the docs (as is required) but did not wantto be limited to seeing my doc just one time during the pg (he is super busy). I ended up getting my doc three times. I used those appointments to ask all the questions I had. I know they are probably all capable. I just needed the comfort of having my questions asked by the doctor of my choice (my career is defending medical malpractice cases - specializing in difficult birth cases. Therefore, I know way toooo much and worried way tooooo much at the end. My doc knows me and my career. Emotionally, I needed to see him at least a couple of times at the end. When I had the opp to speak with him directly, I magically got the appointments I needed). I hope things work out for you. Actually, I hope that you go into labor today and never need those appointments.
