What is something that you didn't know before getting pregnant that has/was been somewhat of a surprise to you?

BTDT moms:
How has/was this pregnancy been different for you?

This pregnancy has been different in terms of all the extra testing and hospital visits. I didn't have headaches or heartburn as bad as I did with the girls. I didn't develop Pre-E this time which was nice.

This pregnancy was night and day! To start I had morning sickness and swelling...everywhere! I was considerably bigger as well, measuring 19cm bigger at the end compared to last time. At the end I was uncomfortable, unable to sleep well, unable to put in socks, uncomfortable to drive. Ugh! I complained a lot but looking back...it wasn't all that bad.

This pregnancy was kind of in the middle as far as nausea, heartburn, and general achiness towards the end. The subchorionic hemorrhage was a challenge that I never dealt with before, but it did resolve itself. I stayed really active this pregnancy so I gained a lot less and am almost back to pre-pregnancy weight. It took me a year the first time and 9 months the second time to lose the weight. Emotionally, I think this pregnancy was harder on me. I'm not sure why, but I was ridiculously hormonal. Maybe it was a stressful job plus having two young children already. DH says it was because I'm old. I'm 30 now but I was 25 with Lily and 27 with Abri.

I didn't know how much water I would retain! Or how much I would swell up like a balloon because of it! I also didn't know how quickly a normal, complication free pregnancy could turn into one with complications! One week I was fine, and then next I was being sent to the hospital with pre-eclampsia!

Thank you *Kiliki* for the beautiful siggy

This pregnancy was the exact same as my pregnancy with Jaleigh in terms of morning sickness, huge boobs, heartburn, etc. the main difference was I was sooooo much bigger this time. All the extra amniotic fluid made my stomach HUGE and made everything in general so much more uncomfortable.

This pregnancy was very different because of the hypertension, first time I've ever had medical problems during a pregnancy. Having an induced hospital birth instead of an unassisted homebirth was very different and quite disappointing.
