My 17 month old Atticus started falling a lot and constantly hitting the same spot on his forehead. It got to the point he started falling multiple times a day and one time at day care he even fell and stood back up 3 times in less than 2 minutes. The first time I took him to the doctor they did an X-ray to check for fractures which came back normal. His doctor tried to pass it off as normal toddler even though he had been walking for 4 months with no issues. After the three rapid falls I was worried about a concussion because his teacher said he looked dizzy when he was falling so I took him to the ER who did a CT that was also normal. So I took him back to the doctor and FINALLY she took it seriously and got a MRI with anesthesia ordered. That was done on the 25th and a week passed and I had not gotten a call so I figured it was no big deal normal results again.

Yesterday I got a call from the pediatrician and she read me the radiologist report directly. I can't quote it but there is a 6.7mm mass of what appears to be grey matter where it should be white matter or something along those lines. Our local radiologist recommended an EEG to follow up so she sent the scan to a radiologist at Children's in Seattle. They basically said that the main concern with the findings would be seizures which I have brought up my suspicion that he has petit mal seizures many times to his pedi so she is referring him to a neurologist.

Sorry that was long I just don't even know what to think at this point. I guess it is a one day at a time thing but I am really not looking forward to driving in either Spokane or Seattle where the pediatric neurologists in Washington are.

(((Hugs))) I hope for the best, it's so hard when little ones aren't well , especially when you have to wait to see what can be done. (((Hugs)))

I think you are too kind. Kind people give the people around them a hard time. You can't express yourself honestly, because you are worried about hurting other people's feelings, and that makes you miserable.~"Winter Sonata"

I'm sorry that you've received news that is worrisome, but I'm glad that you continued pushing the issue with the doctor. Those mommy instincts are often so right. It's so hard to process complex medical news over the phone. I hope that they get you into the specialists quickly and can find a resolution for you soon.

My friend goes to Doctor MacDonald and says great things about him too. I am in the Tri Cities so Spokane is quite the drive and I hate driving in big cities/traffic just thinking about it gives me an anxiety attack. The only good thing about a trip to Spokane for me is stopping at The Onion I love that place so much <3 but I am still going to ask if any of the doctors from either place come to the satellite offices locally. When Nathaniel was born he had hypospadias that required surgery and doctor star did his pre and post op here at the sacred heart satellite office so we only had to drive up for the actual surgery. My epilepsy specialist is in Seattle so I will talk to the Ped and figure it out. If I have to drive I will pick Spokane but if Seattle doc comes here I'll go with him because he does 60+ surgical procedures a year for epilepsy management. I have researched every pediatric neurologist I could find in the state lol.
