I'm having an issue that I've never experienced before and need some insight. The last few weeks we've been dealing with diaper irritation. The front and leg area are red, but not his penis or bum. I thought maybe his covers were too tight so I went up a size. That hasn't helped. I've tried switching to the few FB pockets we have and that helps some. The CJs Butter we had made no difference but it's used up. I've been alternating between California Baby calendula cream and Burt's Bees cream. I change him pretty often. Is it a wetness issue? Or maybe the diapers aren't getting clean?

Is the redness where the elastic and/or PUL is touching his skin? Or is it red pressure marks?
navywifey2003 and MamaSkunk like this.

'Scuse the bad typing, please. 'Breast is Best' but not when browsing the internet!

The leg area looks like where the elastic is touching. It does better with the Bummis Whisper Wraps than the Super Brites or Thirsties covers. I noticed that the whisper wraps have a different kind of elastic casing. The area just under his belly button is from where the diaper (prefolds or fitteds) is touching him and not the cover. I put him in a hemp prefolds last night and it seemed better this morning. I try to use my bamboo fitteds for overnight because of the length of time that he wears it.

DD used to get rashes like this. The main things that helped with her were, avoiding the wrong covers (sounds like FOE is an issue for Henry), using fleece and wool when possible, powder especially on that center waist chafing zone, lanolin to heal on the legs or super bad spots, and as much coverless or naked time as possible. She did grow out of it in a couple months, but she is just a sensitive little girl. DS has had almost zero issues whatsoever and his skin is just way less reactive.

My favorite powder is Nature's Baby Organics unscented. It is tapioca based. I think they call it Silky Dusting Powder. It has some healing herbs in it as well. I am still using the same bottle I got with M. I am sensitive to odors and hate the smells of every other powder I encountered.

Hope that helps! I might also try using the pockets as covers since the leg bindings should be gentle with the fleece. I hope he gets better soon.

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll have to check out that powder.
