That's my theme song these days. I had ACL and MCL surgery (for the third time) last Friday, I'm in a brace that goes from my mid-thigh to ankle and is locked in the straight position, on crutches for at least another week, and the brace stays in straight position for another 2 weeks. Chase thinks my brace is his own personal ladder, and the crutches are the most amazing toys. I haven't been allowed to shower for a week, only sponge baths (gross). Thank God I can find the humor in things, because I almost had a meltdown today, lol, I just want to take the longest shower ever!!

Chase loves Nemo (his birthday party theme), so at least when I start singing "just keep swimming" like a crazy woman, he laughs and starts bouncing around. So at least he is having fun

The silver lining is that within 7-9 months I will be back to my old self and can play all the sports I want to with my kids. Also, I have been struggling with baby weight this time since I haven't even been able to go running. I still have 20lbs sticking around. I can't wait to feel like myself again!

Wow Elly! That must be such a pain. I know I really value my daily showers. Somehow breastfeeding makes me sweat more (hormones, I'm sure) so even in the cool temps, I still need a daily shower. I hope the time goes by fast until you can take a nice, long, hot one! And be sure to tell the household that there will be no hot water for awhile! I would probably have a meltdown too, if I was stuck in a cast up to my thigh! Hang in there!

Elly that stinks! I've had my ACL done years ago after a softball injury and I remember being in a lot of pain. Hope you are well.

Sorry you are in pain If you REALLY want to take a shower, you could try my method, lol. Tuck a hand towel around your leg in the top of the brace. Then wrap your leg in a regular towel and secure it with painters tape. Then place a big black trash bag over your leg and wrap the top closed with painters tape above the brace. Then apply ANOTHER layer of trash bag secured with painters tape on the top. It is A LOT of work, but sooooooo worth it when you feel horrible being deprived of a shower. I've had about 6 or 7 broken bones/casts in my life, so I got this down, lol.Hope the next few months pass quickly for you!

Wow!! That is a ton going on at once. I hope you heal quickly (and can take a shower to rival all other showers!). Sounds hard, but you've got this

Thanks for all of the encouragement girls! I think just knowing that I will be able to be myself again, and feel a little closer to being the athlete I was once was again, is keeping me optimistic about it all. Plus, Chase really is so good. He is not a good sleeper, but when he is up for hours on end, he isn't miserable. We just play, and he fine with that. Thank god!

Kurly, if you don't mind me asking, why so many broken bones?!?! That's a lot! I have only broken one bone my entire life. Even with all the sports, horses, etc, and it was my skull, lol. That explains a lot

Thanks for the tip for wrapping my brace, I actually get to take a real shower tomorrow now, woohoo!
