Is anyone doing this yet with their LO?

We signed Marcos up for some swimming classes at our nearby community center and started this week. Only one parent can be in the pool with him so DH and I are going to alternate every week. Marcos had been in the ocean before and it took him 3 days to start enjoying it, so I was worried about him freaking out in the pool, but he totally loved it! I got there early and had to wait before I got in the pool, so Marcos sat on my lap for an entire 20 minutes without so much as fidgeting, because he was just completely in awe of the water and all the kids playing and swimming. He was totally intrigued. When I got in, I dipped him all the way to his chin and he was smiling and splashing around like he had been doing it for years. The only thing he didn't like was when I made him float on his back - he kept on trying to pull himself up and wouldn't put his legs down.

Obviously, I'm not expecting him to really learn how to "swim" but it's a really good excuse to get out of the house once a week and do something fun and different together.

I've been intending to do that but it just hasn't happened yet.Audrey has been swimming at the beach, she loved it, but then she loves baths to the point where she screams and cries when I have to take her out, so water seems to be her thing.

Marcos loves his bath but lately he's become absolutely fixated on pulling the plug out. He couldn't care less about the toys floating around and me trying to distract him. Bathtime has become a battle of him reaching for the plug and me trying to keep his hands away from it.

I love the idea of teaching babies to swim. Daliyah also loves the bath and water ect. to the point that she wants to stay in when its time to get out.

Jessifer keep up with it and believe it or not babies can learn the water really well. and the floating will just take time to feel comfortable. thats awesome !

We did the parent-child classes with Juliet and she loved them. But she also hated the floating on the back part! Now she's a pretty good swimmer.I'm not sure about doing them with Zachary, only because we have a backyard pool now. I can do the same stuff with him in our pool. And invite some friends if I want other babies around too
