I have noticed that there is something like a new trend in large families in my neighborhood. Young families or families of approximately the same age as me have one kid with a specific gender and the rest kids of the opposite gender - e.g. only one boy and 4 girls, only one boy and 5 girls, only one girl and 3 boys etc. I am right there with them. Of course there are some excceptions, but not many.

Do you see the same around the place where you live or in your friends' families?

I can't imagine being outnumbered like that. I don't know too many large families and the ones I do know have even numbers of boys and girls, so maybe it's just your neighborhood.

I am in my thirties, too. I have 1 girl and 4 boys. My gut feeling says that I am expecting boy #5, so it would be hard - or almost impossible - to even it out

Wow, I sure hope my next one is a boy! I would like the genders to more even.

Interesting! We'll have three girls and a boy. Maybe there's something to it.
