Have any of you noticed that your cm is affected by the material of your underwear? I realized that things are much different the days I wear fancier materials than when I wear my plain cotton underwear. I realized I had this sensitivity a while back when I was getting chronic yeast infections (mainly from BC, it turns out!), so I bought a lot of cotton underwear. Now, I've been wanting to go back to my sexier ones, but since I'm charting, I realize it totally messes things up. Has anyone experienced what I'm talking about? Should I stick to 100% cotton to keep my charting consistent? Is it safe to save these for several days after peak and not have the changes in cm matter?

YES, some women are very sensitive to different kinds of underwear, to fabric softeners used in their laundry, to scented toilet papers, etc. Cotton underwear is best while tracking your CM, but uou don't have to skip out on nicer underwear completely, just make sure the crotch has a cotton lining.

You don't have to do that though, just be consistent. If you're going to wear silkier underwear, then wear it all the time so that your mucus observations aren't changing all the time from changes in the type of underwear you were. As long as you're consistent, you will be able to identify your patterns of fertility and infertility.
