This is my first cycle off BCP in 10 yrs, and I had a 6 day AF, one day dry, then 4 consecutive days of spotting (brown stuff - ew tmi i know)....i'm reading TCOYF and a few things they said in there concerned me. Though they didnt mention if this is normal when you are first coming off BCP, so i was wondering if you knew about it? While I was on BCP this would happen to a lesser degree, 5 days AF, one dry day and 1 spotting day was the usual, i just figured it was from being on the pill, but now that it is worse off the pill...........well i'm worried!

It's very, very normal! Your body has to work really hard to transition off of the synthetic hormones. Anytime there is a fluctuation in hormone levels, you can have spotting or bleeding (menstruation is only one of those fluctuations). This is especially true while coming off of the BCP, your hormones will be fluctuating a lot - so try to drop all expectations about what your chart *should* or *will* look like...because it may be a little funky for awhile. Including funky bleeding. Hang in there, time will take care of it!

How are you enjoying TCOYF, by the way?

The only thing I might add is that for some women it can take several cycles before their charts start to look "normal", so be patient!
