I don't know if there is anybody on the board right now that is doing budgets. Maybe somebody will read this and step up.

Start with the Need Help sticky above and I'll see if I can get to it (I'm rarely on when I'm not ).

If you fill out the budget sticky or copy and paste it into a Word document or spreadsheet you should basically be able to do your own budget. You really need to have a very good idea of where EVERY penny goes for an entire month and then you need to put all of your spending into the categories. Then take a good hard look at your spending and look for anywhere you can cut corners. Can you downgrade the cable or internet? Can you get cheaper car insurance? Are you buying too many goodies when you grocery shop? Etc.

After that put all of your debts in a spreadsheet and then put them in order from lowest balance to highest balance. While paying the minimums on all of them figure out how much you should have left each month to start paying extra on the lowest debt. Once the lowest debt is paid off you 'snowball' that money/payment onto the next debt on the list until it is paid off.

If you haven't done so yet I highly recommend reading Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace or at least visiting his website and going over the 'Baby Steps'. Even following his plan pretty loosely my DH and I have paid off a substantial amount of debt and started a fairly good 'emergency' savings fund.

Hope that helps!
