Do you set financial goals?
Are they by time, amount of money, etc?

I don't mean just general pay off debt but say in 6 months I will have XX amount paid off or silly CC paid off and closed or XX in savings. We all want to pay off debt .

Thanks .:Shortcake:. for my great siggie

Ours goals are set by time as well as by amounts. For instance, our current goal is to have 6 months of expenses saved by the end of 2011.

At one point in time I knew to the day when we would be out of debt (excepting the mortgage). That was before DH was unemployed, then under-employed, then unemployed again. Just this month he was hired full time so my goal is to get back on a budget!

I've been working with my BF to create some goals for ourselves. So far we have a short term goal of being current on all monthly bills (utility, rent, etc...) and have all of our debt in collections on a payment plan by the end of July that way when we start August, we will only be paying bills that are current instead of constantly playing catch up with past due amounts.

Also, as far as long term goals, we don't have a set amount yet, but after we get monthly plans set up for our debt, we will work out a $ amount that we want paid off by the end of the year.

Well our goal is to keep our utilities on.

Before my DH was unemployed our goals were to save for our known coming expenses, Taxes, Christmas, Birthdays. We are also trying to have $1000 in emergency money. We don't usually have that, but we have had serious emergencies that what portion of that $1000 we did have was very handy.

We are decent about budgeting but we still have unbudgeted expeses constantly, because the budget to cover everything is too tight and doesn't cover necessities. So there is a lot of juggling involved.

no, no financial goals. This is where I'm looking to improve and why my interest was peaked on joining this board. So I plan to set some in the near future
