so in February it will have been 3 years since my mom died. Yesterday Papa Shimon (my amazing step-dad) told me that he is starting a new relationship. Although i am happy for him because he is young - not even 50 yet - and it has been almost 3 years and it is time to move on - it is still really really hard because it's not my mom he's with it's hard that he's moving on. I want him to be happy, but

just had to get it out.

((hugs)) I'm so sorry, this is just another trigger isn't it? Your brain knows he can move on, but your heart hasn't healed yet-of course you wish your mom was here and with him, instead. Life has a way of moving on whether we're ready or not ((hugs)) again

Lucky mother to five!

How tough for you. You must feel absolutely torn inside. Just be kind to yourself at the moment - it's important to be accepting and forgiving of however you feel. Of course, your step-dad is probably worried about your approval and your feelings so would probably appreciate some reassurance from you when you're able, too. I really hope this leads to happiness for him and that it comes to be easier for you with time.

Welcome to this board and please do feel welcome to vent and talk on here whenever you like, there are a couple other ladies that were talking about their surviving parent finding a new relationship not long ago so you're not alone, and we all understand.

I don't have any advice, I'm struggling with my mom moving on since my dad passed, but it's barely been 18 months here.

I completely understand what you are going through.I am feeling it to and my parents weren't even still married when Dad passed away. Their divorce finalized in November and Dad died in January. This year will be five years since my Dad passed away and mom mom with be getting remarried in March.

I know it shouldn't upset me, but it does.

Thanks to Jaidynsmum for my new siggy!
