I have recently been informed by my sons Early intervention teachers and speech therapist that they feel he may have attention problems. They said he has trouble staying focused when they are working with him and it is slowing down his progress in Speech. They say he is well behaved and sits and does his work. But when they are talking to him individually or during group time he is busy looking somewhere else, out the window, etc. Also when they have story time he will interupt alot or start talking about a completely different subject. They say they cant seem to "slow him down"

So I called his preschool and asked them if they noticed anything. His teacher said she does notice he has some trouble staying focused but she didnt sound like it was a big problem or anything.

My older son has severe ADHD so I guess its possible that Corey may have it. Though I dont notice anything and he is completely different than my older child. I'm not sure what to do next. He may have a mild form of ADD or ADHD. I'm really afraid of medicating him since he is only 4. My older son started meds at age 6.

Did anyone else put a child on medication at age 4? That just doesnt sound safe to me. Also what other alternatives are there to meds? I never thought about alternatives with my older child because he has it so severe. But something different just might work in Coreys case. Thanks.
