Tanner was diagnosed with adhd at 3 and was put on concerta 18 mg. soon he was up to 36 but that seemed to much so they dropped it to 27 mg. the concerta took too long to work in the morning when we needed it most and then hit him like a ton of bricks and he was a zombie until about 5pm when it started wearing off. Nighttime is so chaotic. He is 6 now and was recently switched to Adderal and It works faster but doesnt last very long and he seems worse now. Most days I am in tears because of his behavior. I cant wait to get to know more mommies who deal with what I do!

Hi, nice to meet you!
Sorry to hear that you have not found an agreeable dosage for Tanner yet. When my ds was on Adderall, he had an afternoon dose of Ritalin to top him off and help us make it through the evening.

Hi, sorry that you're having problems with the meds. I had a lot of problems adjusting Wes when he was that age too. We recently have been having success in his meds. Nighttime was horrible for us also, Wes could literally stay up til 5 am and get back up at 7 am. We have him on a very low dose of Clonodine (its a blood pressure med) but it calms him, allows him to sleep and doesn't affect his BP. THe doctor said it only affects BP in adults. He takes one at 7 and is sleepy by 8:30. He is not so moody the following day because he was actually able to get good sleep.

Hugs! I hope you find the right dose and mixture soon.
