We don't do meds but my son has started seeing an occupational therapist and a psychologist and we are already seeing some positive changes after just a few weeks Plus we are learning lots of things to do at home to get more positive behavior from him

Hey there. My daughter was diagnosed with adhd last year. She is 6 and last year when she started kinder i was getting phone calls on an every other day basis for the exact things that you described. I cried when the doctor said we needed to try medication. I felt like a huge failure my story is on another post here. The getting to know you post. We finally decided that medication was worth a shot because it didnt matter what we did we cldnt get her to focus on school or anything else for that matter. She also had a continuous problem with being too hands on with kids at school. We went with the methylphenidate. It starts working within 30 minutes and wears off in a few hours. I didnt want her on something that her body was going to rely on and i wanted the freedom of letting her have a break from it on weekends and during school breaks. I have a higher tolerance of her excessive hyper activity than people who are not used to being around her. She still has all the spunk that i love about her personality but we are able to keep the twitching/distraction/and all out craziness under a little control. She started doing better in school and seem to be able to better understand what type of behavior is approriate with other children and people in general. To each their own though i believe every parent should decide what is best for their child and themselves. The best of luck to u and ur son.
