Im a csection veteran. All 3 of mine were csections. The last one, however, I tried for a vbac and ended up going in for a section because I never went into labor on my own. I was 1 day shy of 42 weeks. I ended up rupturing, which yes I know is bad - but I didnt know it at all. The docs are amazed I didnt get any pain or bleeding from it. my doc stated that it was older than a week old - and I had no clue!!

My question would be: Is it safe to get pregnant again? Im fully aware I need a csection this next go around - and Im totally willing to go at 38 weeks if need be (as long as baby is healthy) My Midwife said it was a huge rupture, and that has me thinking that if I were to go on modified bed rest, and let them take me early - that maybe there is hope?

I am totally prepaired to be told no, and this is ok with me Im just curious if there is ANY slight chance I can have a 4th baby (and we would be 100% DONE after #4) anyone here have any info??

ETA: I will be waiting AT LEAST 3 years before getting pregnant again, so Im hoping that ups my chances....and yes I will be chatting with my OB when I see him next for my yearly come february.

That's amazing that you had a rupture and didn't feel it. I always thought it was a life threatening situation and extremely painful.

I have no advice, other than to ask your Dr about getting pregnant again. If it was me, I would allow myself to heal completely, but I have no idea how long it would take for a ruptured uterus to heal. Did they stitch it up for you when you had the C-section?

I am glad you and your baby are fine. What a scary experience to have a ruptured uterus!

Yes they did. It only ruptured on my right side, and I had a huge knot there for a while, as I was healing from the csection. I felt nothing! No bleeding, no pain, baby was happy and healthy! Of course I will let my body have all the time it needs to recover.

The only problem I forsaw was if my bag of waters had burst, it would have gone into my stomach before it would have come out, so baby would have suffocated. thats obviously another HUGE risk....but like you said - I will ask my OB.

I also believe that I wouldnt have ruptured if I had been taken at 39/40 weeks - had I not gone over so long I dont think I would have ruptured....just my own thoughts....so if it is ok to get pregnant again - maybe taking me at 38 weeks is a possibility so nothing goes wrong.

anywho - thanks for hearing me out and commenting

and also to add - she was almost 12lbs at birth - that is another really big factor in why I think I ruptured....she was 11lbs 13oz at birth!!

You and your baby really were lucky! I am so glad everything worked out for you. Sounds like your team of Drs are pretty good.

You know I had my scheduled C-section at 36 weeks. I had a previous surgery on my uterus (similar to a c-section) and they scheduled it so early b/c they didn't want a rupture to occur. Maybe they can schedule you as early as 36 weeks? My baby was only 6 lbs b/c she was so early. No complications b/c of her being so early. Just to let you know, I did have an amnio done a day before they allowed the C-section to check for lung maturity. They were very careful not to poke the baby w/ the needle.
