In this day and age, does large mean 3? Or are we talking 5+?

I'm Wendy, mom to 3 boys. We are in the not-trying-not-preventing stage of ttc. So, we plan on having more children. We always figured on having 4 kids. I wouldn't be opposed to 5, but I don't know that I would consider 6.

Welcome Wendy!

I am Irene one of your Co-Hosts and ttcing #9.

I think at least 5+ is a large family however I think that 7 and up is when all the dynamics change and you move into that super size area where you need more then a 8 pass mini van, You need a bigger then normal table, More furniture in your liveing for all the butts to sit lol. At least 2 fridges and 2 deep freezers just for daily life never mind trying to have room to stock up.

With 5 to 6 you can still mangage in the realm of normal sized things LOL

Good luck!! you are most welcome to post here and please feel free to jump in at any time!!

I think 4 and 5 are starting to get large just because its becomming uncommon. Anything 6+ I consider very large.

I'm only on baby #4 and alot of people comment about how large of a family we have. Also at church, there is only one other family who have more than 4 kids and only two who have 4, the others only have 1 or 2 and a few 3 (this is those with children still, I know some older people have had many children but now their children are having children). And our church is very family oriented and always encouraging to not use birth control to limit family size (unless there is a health condition that would put the mother's life at risk) and to view chidlren as a blessing. So, in this day and age 3 is getting big, but 4+ is a large family. My parents had 9 children, so to me 4 isn't that big. Dh's parents had 3 children, to him 4 seems big but he's happy

I think anymore if you have more than 2 kids, and definitely more than 3 most in society think you have a large family. But, I know years ago having 6 or more was quite common. IMO I think a large family is 4+kids
