What is this world coming to????

We had to pick my daughter up from school today because there was a shooting threat on Myspace for her school. It is supposed to occur tomorrow on Friday the 13th. Would you send your child to school????

*I am not sending mine!!!*

No I absolutely would NOT send my child either! We had an incident at my children's old school a couple of years ago. Their school was next to a bank and someone came in and robbed the bank. The gunmen took off and the cops couldn't find them. The school was on lockdown but the parents weren't notified so me and a big group of parents stood at a bus stop for 45 minutes wondering where our Kindergarteners were. We kept calling the school and they weren't answering the phones. Finally one of the other parents got through and said that the school was on lockdown but that the Kindergarteners were on their way.

As soon as the bus dropped off my DD I drove down to the school to sign out my son (he was in the 2nd grade at the time) for the rest of the day and the school staff was mad at me for pulling them out of school. They said that the incident was over (although they hadn't found the gunmen yet) and that I was over-reacting. I told them I could care less and that they were MY kids and I could take them out of school if I wanted too.

Unfortunately this type of thing happens a lot. I work for our local school district now and one of our middle schools was evacuated last week because of a bomb threat. It's so sad
