does it have to be a special termometer? Or can it be a regular one?

It doesn't matter the brand of thermometer. BBT thermometers usually read the the hundredths place instead of the tenths, but either will do. It does need to be an oral thermometer though, not the ear or forehead ones.

It should def be a basal thermometer. Those you can use orally or vaginally. vaginally gives better/more accurate readings. ive heard and read horrible things about the walgreens kind. I have two BBTs. One is the purple rite aid one and the other is the pink and white up&up target one. i like them both. they both seem accurate and work well. the rite aid one takes about a minute to read, and the target one takes only about 25-30 seconds. ;]

Make sure to temp at the same time every morning, right after you wake up, before you get out of bed. I used to temp at 6AM, but my son kept waking me up earlier than that and I wouldnt get my solid 3 hrs of sleep before temping... so what i do now is set my alarm for 4:45am, temp and go back to sleep. works so much better and now i have way more accurate temp readings. Well, im preg now, so i guess I should stop temping, but im so used to it now!

This is my 2nd Walgreens one (because I mysteriously lost the first one) and I love it. It was about $20. It looks like a normal theromometer only it's pink. The one I had before was a little better because it saved the last temp. This one doesn't do that so I have to make sure I write it down as soon as I take it.
