Quick question...
I have never monitored my temps bc I work night shift and I was told that you check your temp first thing in the morning when you wake up. I dont think I could be consistent with this bc Im working at night and sleeping during the day, except on my days off. Any solutions? Weve been TTC for 1yr and i have NO idea when I ovulate

Have you read the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? I would reccommend reading it ASAP. it is an awesome book that will teach you tons about charting and fertility signs.

You can take your temperature after you sleep all day too, it's your waking temp that you want to record. It may be harder to see a thermal shift unless you are always sleeping all day and awake all night, but it is possible that you may see one. Watching for other fertility signs(like Cervical mucous, cervical placenement, etc) and using things like OPK's can also help determine when you are ovulating.

You can figure it out without temps, you just need some information about how to make and interpret your cervical mucus observations.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great jumping off point to get the basics, but not quite comprehensive enough for mucus only charting. For that, you may want to read "The Billings Method: Using the Body's Natural Signal of Fertility to Achieve or Avoid Pregnancy" by Dr. Lyn Billings and Ann Westmore. Or you can also learn the Creighton Model, a medical form of classifying mucus - but you need a teacher for that one. www.fertilitycare.org

I agree....the important thing is that if you want to temp, you can! You just need to do it at a consistant time when you wake up, like Jennifer said.

I would recommend the same reading that Jennifer and Shawned suggested. Good luck to you!
