I was looking into purchasing the Canon Powershot A630, because of recommendations from you gals. My dad is suggesting that I look at a Fuji that is around the same price range. Are Fuji's any good? Also, on Amazon I found a Canon Powershot A640 that has 10MP. Will there be much of a difference in picture quality between the 8 and 10 MP?

I'll be watching this thread, I'm getting the Cacon A630 for X-mas, but I'm curious as to what people will say about the Fuji.

I trust Canon way more than Fuji. And as far as Megapixels go, you have to shoot in certain modes to get the most out of that aspect.

Megapixels arent the most important IMO. Megapixels are important but its not the be all end all.

what i would suggest for a deciding factor would be more along the lines of the settings you can play around with. Some cameras let you play around with more than others do.

I am a Canon girl so i'd recommend the canon but also read reviews on multiple websites to get a good idea.

I have a fuji finepix S9000. I like it pretty well. There are a few things I don't like, but since I've never had any other digital camera, I'm not sure how it compares.

But Soon I'll probably upgrade to a digital SLR...

At the higher end of the spectrum, MPs arent as important. They really control how large you can blow up your images. With an 8MP you're going to be able to do large prints (8x10, 11x14) , if your image is good to start with.
