I am hoping with this post there is someone out there that has had the complications I have had and /or can possibly give me a direction to go at this point in my life.

I met my husband in 2003 and we got pregnant in February of 2004. It started out, like many of you, with a pregnancy test. My pregnancy lasted 8 weeks before I started getting sick. I went to the OBGYN with some spotting and generally didn't feel well. The Doctor did an exam and told me he didn't feel like I needed to go get an ultrasound that I wasn't that far along and he didn't think it was anything to be concerned about, a little spotting is normal. I went home. The next morning I was still feeling sick (nausea, stomach cramping), I called into work and stayed home. I laid on the couch most of the day, unable to move. Around 2:00pm I stood up and almost fell to the floor. I was very light headed and felt like I was going to pass out. I barely made it to the kitchen picked up the phone and went to the bathroom. I called my mother, the person I knew I could ask questions to and she would tell me what she thought was going on or what to do. She immediately called my husband on three way, keeping me on the phone, and told my husband he needed to get home. The pain was so bad I couldn't get off the toilet and walk back to the couch. I ran water in the bath tub(it was right beside me) I slid myself over and laid in it with all my clothes on..... My husband got home and came into the bathroom, I told him I couldn't get out of the tub and I couldn't walk it hurt so bad. He helped me get out and get dressed and off to the hospital we went (2:30pm). Once we got there I went to the front desk and told them I was pregnant and something was wrong, I told her my symptoms and she sent me to have a seat in the waiting room... we sat there until about 4:00pm. They took me back and long story short, took blood and urine... called the ultra sound technician back in since it was after 9:00pm by this time ( being a hospital you would think they would just be there, no.) around 1:15 AM the NEXT MORNING the ultra sound tech showed up and I finally got the ultra sound. I heard my baby's heart beat, but almost immediately she turned the sound down so I couldn't hear it anymore. I was taken back to my room. The doctor came in a few minutes later and told me I was having an ectopic pregnancy that the surgeon was on her way and I would be having emergency surgery for removal. Well, by the time I was taken back it was 2:30am. Upon opening me up, my right tube had burst open and I was hemorrhaging. I lost a lot of blood and told by the doctors that I almost died. So, ok, that was over but I stayed sick for the complete term of the pregnancy 9 month from beginning to end. I kept going to the OBGYN and she sent me to an endocrinologist and to a GI doctor. The endocrinologist gave me a clean bill after doing some thyroid testing. The GI doctors first said Gall Bladder and took that out on 4/1/2004. that didn't help, it did cause an abscess which left me with a tube and bag attached to me for two weeks while they drained infection out of my abdomen. After the tube came out and the infection was all drained out I was still sick. The GI checked my appendix, all good. He said he didn't know what was wrong and sent me home. A few more days passed and I started throwing up tiny chunks of blood, I called the GI doc and told him and he called me in a script for VALIUM... said it was all in my head and I needed to try to calm down and relax that it was going to take some time for my body to get used to not having my gall bladder. I changed GI (2nd opinion about the gall bladder was it shouldn't have been taken out in the first place) and had numerous test and numerous diagnoses. Acid reflux... Celiac disease ... Gastroparesis .. things that left me UNINSUREABLE. Started having allergic reactions to the medications they were using to treat me .. first to the loritabs they were giving me which caused severe stomach cramps.. then to Nexium, which was for the treatment of acid reflux.. I started having numbness that started in my bottom lip . into my jaw .. my neck.. into my chest and down my left arm. I thought I was having a stroke! I got up and went to the ER... as the night went on I started feeling better... they had a saline IV... and monitored me. After I gave them my info they contacted my GI and he had them start me on a Nexium drip... that started the numbness again and then we knew what the problem was... I told the nurse to get the IV out of my arm and call my doc... she did, and they kept me over night with a "yes you can resuscitate me" sicker on my arm band in case it got worse. During THIS 9 months I had no appetite, nausea, rapid weight loss, I went from 130 to 116, dizziness, I would have strange feelings in my chest that wasn't pain it was more like something inside me was asleep .. I had doctors appointments sometimes 3 in one week. The ONE thing that made me feel better was a gluten free diet... even though I was tested for celiac and the test came back negative. I was never diagnosed with anything and after the normal pregnancy would have been over is when I didn't have anymore issues.

Fast-forward to 2006... Pregnant again... I start gong to the obgyn and she does her blood work and sends me home. I get a call from her office and they tell me my hormone levels don't look like they should to be at the hospital and she was going to draw more blood and check again. My levels were going down and she suggested since I had one tubal pregnancy that she wanted to give me a shot of methotrexate. I agreed. Needless to say I was sick another 9 months. The same issues. Every time I lost a pregnancy, because I had GI issues, that's where they sent me and never figured out why I was losing babies. The only reason I found this page is because I was sitting here looking at a page on autism and immunizations and it started talking about autoimmune disorders when you are pregnant will cause the body to attack itself/the baby, and in my head, It was like that moment.

I haven't tried to conceive again. I am afraid if I do, it will kill me and I wont find anybody that can help me, just like the first 2 times.
I have looked on the internet and have never found a story like mine have never found symptoms like mine all together in one person besides me ..... Im looking for a story like mine! Im 41 and I know my time is running out, and I would like to try at least one more time before its to late.... Im not looking for a diagnoses, Going through this and never finding out why and never finding a story like mine makes me feel alone and like I cant trust doctors to even help me, because they haven't.

I have never had health problems in my life, never had allergies to anything except bees. I feel fine unless I get pregnant. No broken bones no nothing..... How would I find an autoimmune disorder if I have no symptoms unless im pregnant? I just want somewhere to turn....

I am so sorry that you have gone through so much. I have not had any of those symptoms myself since the diagnosis for my recurrent losses is a progesterone issue. I just wanted to acknowledge that I have read this and that I really hope that you are able to find a way to get pregnant and not have a reaction like this.

I've never experienced anything like this, or known anyone to... but I do know people who have troubles after any physical trauma, their body rebels and they are sick for ages with no true explanation.

I was never tested for Lupus... I only get sick when I get pregnant. Any other time I don't have any issues..... joint pains (which I assume most 40 year olds have).... painful periods, which I have had since I was 14.....

All I know is that twice this has happened and I end up getting sick during the loss it seems, or right after the loss, and the sickness lasts the term of the pregnancy. It sucks to be sick for 7 and 8 months straight and have test after test ran and never finding an answer. The only thing that did make me feel better was a gluten free diet... I didn't test positive for celiac , but I was more able to manage. It makes no sense to me why I cant find anyone out there that has had anything like this happen and very frustrating that after dealing with it that no doctor has figured out why it happens.
I did think at one time it was a hormone problem... the problem is I don't remember why now... the only thing I can remember about why I thought that was hair growth on my face... not that I turned into a werewolf, but my facial hair, the little blonde fuzz we have on our face, got longer.. I did mention to my GP about a hormone issue and asked her if I could have that tested and she told me that my hormone levels go up and down all the time. So I never got that tested.

The only things I ever get diagnosed with is GI issues.... gall bladder.... nope.... Gastroparesis .... nope.... acid reflux.... nope..... thyroid....nope.... the OBGYN's never did anything, just sent me to other specialists because of my symptoms.......

I do have a family history of autoimmune disorders .... my grandmother had diabetes.... my grandfather had psoriasis and arthritis.... my mother has arthritis ...
My mother had one loss after I was born..... my grandmother had several losses as did my great grandmother...... Is there some issue that gets passed down? Would genetic testing give me any direction?

Im not sure if I still can, and it was never brought up to me, but when I had the ectopic pregnancy and they had to remove it.... would they have done any testing on the baby that could give me answers?

I am going to try to give any information I remember when I respond.... but it has been a long time since the first loss.... 2003 ...
